There are three towns right smack in the middle of one of the most popular tourist destinations in Costa Rica. These towns have managed to remain quaint and uncrowded. They are referred to as Esterillos Oeste (Esterillos West), Esterillos Centro (Esterillos Center), and Esterillos Este (Esterillos East). Within Esterillos Este is a lovely house for sale. The Green House is conveniently located. It is twenty minutes from Jaco, the party destination of the Pacific Coast, and thirty minutes from Manuel Antonio National Park, the busiest national park in the country. It’s only 15 minutes away from the surfing mecca of the area, Hermosa Beach. Twenty five minutes from Marriott’s Los Suenos Marina and only one mile to Esterillos Beach, arguably one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. The international airport is only 80 minutes away and a state of the art hospital is about the same distance. This property is in the midst of all this and still manages to feel like it is in a small intimate community apart from the hustle and bustle. The house itself has a lot going for it. It resides in a quaint neighborhood called Monterey Estates Homes. It was lovingly built by Esteban Protti, which is interestingly a major selling point for the costa rica real estate listings. His background exposed him to the American lifestyle and he speaks English beautifully. When he went into construction, he approached it with an eye towards providing excellent customer service. His services go above and beyond what other contractors and builders in the area do. First, he built the house with the American lifestyle in mind. He provided an indoor laundry area with hookups for a dryer; most Tico builders do not understand the need for a dryer. He built a roomy house with 3,300 square feet of living space. Tico houses tend to run much smaller. He used a stunning open floor plan, practically unheard of in typical Tico homes, and he added the details that Americans look for in a cozy home (such as recessed lighting, natural stone tiles, wood cabinetry and built-ins, etc). When you walk into the house you see the kitchen with granite countertops. Off to your left is the living room area and off to the right is the dining room area. The only thing that sets these rooms apart is the clever use of furniture. To the back of the great room is a wall of glass overlooking the back patio which leads out to an in-ground pool. This patio is accessible from the great room and two of the three bedrooms. He included three bathrooms in the floor plan, conveniently attaching two of the bathrooms to the bedrooms. The house is air conditioned and comes with a security system. It is wired for internet and has a two-car garage.
The house is fully furnished, minus the appliances. However, Esteban will install the appliances of your choice. You’ll need to choose your microwave, refrigerator, cook top, oven, and dishwasher. The property is $400,000.
The second thing Esteban provides, if desired, is continued service after purchasing the house. He takes great pride in the construction of his houses and is would love to provide any additional construction later-on, should the need arise. His going rate is about $85/square foot. He offers maintenance inside and out for $150 month. He will provide for someone to come in and clean once a week. He’ll maintain the landscaping and cut the grass. He’ll provide security 24/7 and he maintains the roads in the neighborhood. You can call on him to check in on your house in the event of your absence.
Should you ever want to rent out the house, Esteban is willing to facilitate that. He also owns a van, with which he drives the neighbors to a large shopping center on a regular basis. The neighborhood consists of both Ticos and expats and Esteban works to create a sense of community and include everyone.
Esteban is not alone in trying to develop a real community in the area. Local business are working together to create a cohesive community. One such business is the Monterey Del Mar, a hotel in Esterillos Este, which is soon to launch a “hotel club”. This club will give you access to La Playa Esterillos. It is a stunning chocolate sand beach that is better than many other beaches in the area because it is relatively free from coral and there are hardly any people on it. The hotel club will provide a discount on food and drinks at La Veranda Restaurant, which affords stunning views of the beach and sunset. They are also working on additional perks with an aim to highlight local businesses and entrepreneurs and to provide a venue for the community to get together and mingle--both expats and Ticos.
Right now the three Esterillos towns are quaint communities between local hotspots. Soon the friendly communities, pristine beaches, and convenient location will be discovered and the region will be further developed. If you are looking for prime real estate in an area on the verge of growth, now is the time to invest in Esterillos.
