Hi all!
I promised to create some sort of "international championships of Pp2" during this winter. I think that we will start planning these games right now.
Short introduction. I have asked different forums to play some "inner-tournaments" to find out best players and these will play in these international competitions. Each team should have 4 players and one extra player (substitute, if someone just cant join into the game).
I hope to gain 8 different teams to join into these games. Kalassa.net will have its own team. Latvians informed to me, that they have their team ready. Fiskesnack.com and sportfiske.se are asked to join and they promised to play&join into this cup. Kalale.ee and all-fishing.ru will also join our games. I am still waiting 2 more forums, especially from Norway, to join into this cup. So please be fast to inform me, if you hope to join these games.
The international tournament goes like this (preliminary plan).
2 starting leagues, each having 4 teams (4 players + 1 substitute). We will play 3 matches (30min of each) andl sum of caught fishes are added into "teams total sum". One lake will be hard one, one "mass-fish-one", and one will be special game. 2 best teams of each leagye go to final - round.

Extra info: This cup is NOT for different teams in different forums. This cup is only for "best players of forum" and therefore it will be some sort of "world championships" also.
I know that swedish are now having 2 teams, but let's find out if there is some way to solve this problem..
If there are HUGE interested, nothing stops us to enlarge this tournament even larger. Users of different forums: let me know, if you have played your own "semi-finals" and have hard Pp2 team, I'll check out if there is anything I can do.
Mikko, I'm afraid that you mix "national teams" and "forum teams". You should make this matter more exact.
If there are 2 swedish forums, why it could not be 2 teams?
Meanwhile all-fishing.ru is multinational forum, there are players from several countries there (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus for sure and probably some more). We can only make Soviet Union team on this forum :)
Please think about it and take the final decision, what it would be. Battle of forums? Battle of nations? Something else?
This thing was not thought before we played "kalassa.net championships". I think that it is wiser to play clear national teams matches after "virtual icefishing championships" (which have been played few times earlier in Finland). Then we might know "whole nations champion". I believe that this time it is better to play "only" forum vs. forum type of matches.
In Finland we also have many fishing forums, but some play under kalassa.net, erankavijat.net, kalamies.com etc.. I dont know, that do they have their own team, because many of them have played also in our "kalassa.net tournament". It is problematic, so thats why I generalized it to be "forum is also nations team". It is not planned to be so severe, only just for fun. Winners are called like "xxxx.net from xxxxland have won the first international team-cup in Pp2". We have to start from short and easy cups, maybe later more intensive and larger tournaments.
We dont have any trophies to share (yet), but if someone finds sponsors for these games, let me know about it.
This really sounds exiting.We will be there with our best team,for sure :-)
Ok, I have decided, that we play now "forum against forum" type of matches. It is impossible YET to create national team.

I think, that there MIGHT be some updates in the rules also. Dont get upset, if we use points instead of total mass in our games. We are currently playing some team challenges and these games will show us the best way to find winners.

Is it too hard to play matches during weeks (monday - thursday)? If we start matches at 21.00 (host open 20.30, Finlands time), normally playing of these 4 matches will take about 2 hours. Is it too late for you? I have a possibility to start server at 20.00 also (not earlier) and games will then start at 20.30.
If this is ABSOLUTELY no, then we will play during weekends. Note, that it is "lota lota" (burbot) season going on, and I will not be online everytime at evenings/nights, especially at weekends.

Rule-info for championship matches
1) Teams are named in "international championship thread". Captains are "contact persons". Each team have 4 players and 2 substitutes. If lower amount of players are available, when game starts, team must play by using only earlier named list of players.
2) Captains are informed about time-schedule and IP-address of the games. They have to share this information with their team. USE PRIVATE MESSAGES OR E-MAIL! NOT FORUMS PUBLIC THREADS! Otherwise we have to use passwords to protect outsiders effect.
3) Delays or changes in time-schedule are informed to captains as soon as possible. If there are some problems with technical things, connection, important family-things of the host, there might be some changes. Spare-host is Janne Procyon, but in all other cases it is me (Mikko). If Janne cant host game, match will be scheduled to other day.
4) Host is open 30min before start (20.00 time of Finland http://www.aika.fi/ )
And the game will start 20.30. If player is late, he can join to the rest of the matches, but no restarts for being late.
5) There will be 4 lakes in one tournament. (2x 15min and 2x 30min). Lakes are not named before start, but "long games are played in large maps". There are short, about 5min break between games. Results are counted immediately after game is over. There are 30min protesting time after results are shown. If there are something wrong, captains do the official protest and send it to me or Janne (if hosting). Procyon Products make decisions for approvals and discarding of the protests. There is no way to complain about decisions.
6) If connection to the game is cut off during match, player is out of the match. If some problems occur during start, there will be 1 restart. If the same player is constantly having problems with start, no restarts are performed. If the host is crashed, then there will be restart of the lake. Players must rejoin as soon as possible. If there are some other major problems, it is informed to captains as soon as possible. There will be also additional information about continuing of the game.
7) Most of the games are "normal" type of matches, but there will be also "largest fish" and "pcs" type of games. Most of species and "only kiiski" types are not selected. Lakes will/might be different between starting leagues.
8 ) Points:
1 = 10 points
2 = 8
3 = 6
4 = 5
6 = 4
7 = 3
8 = 2
9 = 1
Largest fish = 1 point (after all, I decided to take this into pointing system).
Host is counting points and therefore also collecting playlog-file. Host is not playing, he is only official referee.
In starting leagues, there will be 4 teams in each league (total 16 players + referee). Best 2 teams of each league goes to final.

Team Ukraine have not informed players yet. Last deadline is Friday 8th of Feb. If there is no players named before this, the team will be out of tournament.
9) Games are planned to be played during February 2008. Time-schedules are informed about 1 week before match. We will prefer playing durin Mon- Thu. Weekends are too busy for most of us (we are fishermen!).
10) 2 best teams of each starting league go to final. If there are 2 teams with same amount of points, positions in matches makes the difference. If EVEN THIS did not make a difference, largest fish of the team is taken into account. If EVEN THIS did not make a difference (nearly impossible situation), I will toss a coin to find out the winner.
11) Final is played with the same system than starting leagues.
12) Chatting during games is allowed, but private messaging is preferred. In public chat, the language is ONLY English. No other languages are allowed or player will get muted.

Team Russia is having some problems with connections: nearly all 30min games are disconnected during playing. Very strange situation, might be some sort of internet-structure-dunno-what -thing.
