I've tried uninstalling but all my old records still remain.... I'd like to start from scratch!

Delete records.dat from your PP2 folder.

This sounds like you have "vista problems". You have to be admin to install/uninstall game. Otherwise there might be problems like this. Deleting of "records.dat" is enough, so you dont need to re-install the game all the time.
