Hi! From this link you can find Goverments official information http://www.mmm.fi/en/index/frontpage/Fishing,_game_reindeer/Recreational_fishing.html

Are you studying in University? In that case next I will give you University' fishing club/society's contacts: http://www.student.oulu.fi/~kalat/esittely/hallitus.html They have several ice fishing competitions during winter and one bigger event on 22.03.2009 klo 10:00.

Do you prefer ice fishing, flyfishing or maybe angling? When you will detailm more closely I can give you more tips...

BR, Timo

Where do you live in oulu.. I can't see any problems if we take you to icefish with us in some weekend if you want and are interested.. You can try with my rods so if you dont like it, you dont need to buy your own equipments. :) And you dont need any licenses for icefishing in oulu.

Adam, welcome to Oulu.

There's plenty of fine places for fishing near Oulu, don't even know where to start. Do you prefer fishing in lakes, rivers or maybe in the sea? I'm myself basically just flyfishing in smaller rivers and happy to give you some hints for such places, if you're interested. Unfortunately there's still couple more months to go before the season starts...

Heh...

so in Poland i usually was fishing in lakes but here you have very shallow lakes so i rather prefer fishing in river(i will learn sth new). In the see i have never fishing but i hope i will try here, the same like flyfishing:D

And i have two more question:
- first, where the Oulu area is finished?? becouse on one site it till the border with Russia (on the map Finland is as 5 big regions) and on the other is only maybe 30-40 km around Oulu?!!
- and second what about open water area in river now... becouse on lake i know that i can't fishing (angling) there becouse people did it to give an air to the fishes, and what about river?? becouse in main stream after dum there is an open area... so can i go and fishing there (angling) when i buy licences?

If you want to fish in Oulanka Nationalpark you must purchase a fishing license first.

This might miss the matter, but...

There are some nice rapids in the national park of Oulanka, you definitely want to see them. I have never been fishing in Oulanka, but it would be nice to go there. If yoa are interested fishing in "fisherman's paradise"-like places you would want to go to a place called Hossa which is a nice place indeed, at least in my opinion. There are also a plenty of other cool fishing places in Lapland that you would want to visit.

I'm not the right person to answer your questions, since I live about 600 kilometers to the south from Oulu.

Hello all!
I use this old thread instead of starting a new one since I am also looking for fishing spots in Oulu.

I am moving from Sweden to Oulu the 26th of April this year and I am an dedicated pike fisher and hence I am looking for good spots for large pikes. Would be nice if anyone could give me some hints. Unfortunatley I dont have access to a boat but atleast during spring season you should be able to reach the big ones from the shore too.

I already noticed some areas that looks interesting like the Kuivasjoki-delta and the Sanginjoki. Maybe Im totally wrong though  :-D Please help me out.

Also interested in smaller lakes in little bit remote wilderness where you dont run into people and can catch somewhat big fish.

Also interested in Walleye (Sander) and Perch spots too.

Thanks in advance!
