Here are some photos of ice fishing where I live and the equipment that I use.

The wax worms that I grow for Perch.

Lures that I bought in Sweden.

US made lures.

Nice pics... btw, I have "fishes of New Hampshire" poster on the wall in my hall.

If you want to discuss in kalassa.net community, you can use English instead of "google translator". Almost all of us can speak nice and fluently English. Those messages translated with e.g. google translator to Finnish are mostly gibberish. There are some correct words but phrases does not make any sense.
Henri Poincare: "Tiede on faktoja; aivan kuten talot tehdään kivistä on tiede tehty faktoista; mutta kivikasa ei ole talo eikä kokoelma faktoja ole välttämättä tiedettä."

 Hello  Surf

Using  waxworms is not common in Finland. Almost all icefishermans use flymaggots and quite many use gnat larvae. Flymaggot are sold almost everywhere and during best season also gnatlarvaes are quite easy to get.

Lures you have bought from Sweden are interesting. I´m almost sure they all are made in Finland. Top left corner lure can be made elsewhere. Guy who have made most of those lures, use often perch or roachskin for coating. Is seems there is both, roach and perch used in your lures. Right lower corner lure can be older than others. During 70´s there was tens or even hundreds makers who made small amounts for selling. Have you get any results with those lures ?

Something common about icefishing in Finland:

-Season starts in northern parts in October or November, in southern parts you often have to wait untill January. Variation between years is quite big.

-season ends in  March or April, up north beginning of May is also capable.

- most popular target fish is perch, also pike, whitefish, zander are wanted

- in nothern parts arctic chars, brown trouts and graylings are often catched

- stocked rainbowtrout  is also targetfish in whole Finland, usually in small ponds and lakes

Hello, Mr Ponu,

The lower RH lure has worked good for Perch and Black Crappie and the spoon in the middle has caught Lake trout. Our seasons are almost identical as far as time of year and locations.

Pike, Perch, Black Crappie, Sunfish,  Lake Trout, Brown Trout and Rainbow and Burbot are poplar fish here.

I see castmasters in there, it works really nice for pikeperch in Finland. Nice perch pack and chainpickerel ?
